Instructions
  1. In a small sauce pan, heat milk to just to boiling. Remove from heat, add loose tea, and let steep for 5 minutes.
  2. In a medium-sized, microwave-safe mug, sift together flour, sugar, and baking powder.
  3. Add vanilla bean paste and oil.
  4. Strain tea leaves from milk, then mix into batter.
  5. Microwave for 1 minute to 1 minute and 10 seconds.
  6. Add frosting, if desired.
Recipe Notes
  • This recipe will overflow a small mug. I would suggest at least a 12 oz mug.
  • It is not necessary to remove all tea leaves from the milk. I leave in about half of the tea. (NOTE: Leaving in the full tablespoon may be too much, however.)
  • I prefer the cake plain, but it tastes great with cream cheese frosting.
  • Try it paired with a cup of tea!
